Certificate type and validation procedures

Certificates that were created by the Brose Public Key Infrastructure (Brose PKI) comply with the X.509 v.3 standard (Brose Certificates).

Validation procedures are described in the Brose Issuing CA Certification Practice Statement (CPS), in the associated Certificate Policy (CP) for the internal Brose Community and/or in other applicable Brose policies and agreements.

Inquiries regarding current versions of the Brose Issuing CA certification policy (CP) should be addressed to the above contact.

Limitations on the use of certificates and on reliance on certificates

In accordance with the disclaimer and limitations of liability given below, Brose certificates may be used in transactions within the company and between Brose and its business partners for the purpose of authentication, protection of data integrity and maintenance of confidentiality. The legal effects of using Brose certificates in a transaction are determined by applicable law and relevant agreements.

Any other use of Brose certificates or of the technical trust relationship provided by Brose certificates shall be limited to persons or entities that have a current and valid business relationship with a Brose entity and that are contractually obliged to comply with the Brose Issuing CA Policies (“Authorized Relying Parties”). The conditions under which an Authorized Relying Party may rely on a Brose certificate are set down in applicable Brose Issuing CA Policies and/or Authorized Relying Party agreements.

Obligations of Brose subscribers

Subscriber obligations are set down in the agreement under which a subscriber receives a Brose certificate.

Obligations of Authorized Relying Parties to check the status of certificates

The obligations of Authorized Relying Parties to check the status of certificates are set down in the applicable Brose Issuing CA Policies and/or Authorized Relying Party agreements.

Disclaimer and limitations of liability

Unless otherwise stated in an applicable agreement with an Authorized Relying Party and/or a subscriber, any liability for factual defects and defects of title and any liability on the part of Brose issuing CA(s) related to the functionality, creation, use, validity or correctness of Brose certificates, including the identity of persons named in a Brose certificate and their authority to represent Brose, shall be excluded – except in cases of intent or gross negligence.

Applicable agreements, Certification Practice Statement, Certificate Policy

Provisions related to the creation and application of Brose certificates are set forth in the applicable Brose Issuing CA Policies, Authorized Relying Party agreements and/or subscriber agreements.

Privacy policy

The privacy policy pertaining to requests for Brose certificates and for Brose certificates themselves is set forth in the applicable Issuing CA Policies and contractual agreements between Brose entities, Authorized Relying Parties and/or subscribers.

The Brose PKI is specified as an application that is critical to the company’s infrastructure and is implemented as such.
